Small craft and high surf advisories are in effect for Barbados from noon today through 6 a.m. Monday

A small-craft advisory is issued when sustained winds of 20 to 25 knots (35 to 45km/h) and/or sea swells of 2.5 to 3.0 metres (8 to 10 feet) are affecting or are forecast to affect the marine area within the next 36 hours.

A high surf advisory is issued when breaking wave action poses or is forecast to pose a threat to life and property within the surf zone during the next 36 hours.

The Atlantic High-Pressure system is expected to generate winds of 20 to 25 knots across the Atlantic which will result in a deterioration in marine conditions in the eastern Caribbean.

Moderate sea swells in open water of 2.0 to 2.5 meters (7 to 8 ft) are expected to impact the marine area from Saturday night, with winds of 35 to 45km/h. A further increase in sea swells ranging from 2.5m to 3.0m in open water are forecast to impact the marine area from Sunday night.

As a result, a small craft and high-surf advisories will be in effect for above-normal easterly sea swells. (PR/SAT)
