The Barbados Tridents have their sights set on a clean sweep of victories in their upcoming three-match friendly football international series against the Grenada Spice Boyz which starts tonight at the Pond Playing Field in Grenada.

The Tridents have won nine of their last 18 matches against Grenada, with their most recent victory, a 2-0 win on July 7, 2017, in the Windward Islands Football Association tournament.

The most famous meeting of the two came on January 27, 1994, at the National Stadium in the Shell Caribbean Cup. Barbados won 4-2 in extra time in a game comically remembered for both teams attempting to score own goals in the last minutes of regular time.

While there is less at stake in the upcoming three-match series for the regional rivals, Tridents’ head coach  is still expecting his players to go out and fight for the victory until the last minutes. (NM)
