The murderer who chopped a man to death and then called police giving them directions to the scene, was given a starting sentence of 27 years when he appeared in the No. 2 Supreme Court yesterday.

Omar Ryan Oneal Hurdle will, however, end up serving 2 444 days or six years, 254 days after deductions.

Hurdle, of 3rd Avenue, The Ivy, St Michael, had pleaded guilty, at a previous Session of the Continuous Sittings, to murdering Dwayne Jason Omar Gooding on April 23, 2016.

He was represented by attorney Safiya Moore, while Senior State Counsel Olivia Davis and State Counsel Anastacia McMeo prosecuted.

Justice Randall Worrell told the offender he had determined that 27 years was an appropriate starting point for the offence. (HLE)
