There is a feeling the tide could be turning for Barbados’ football after the Tridents earned a hard fought come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Antigua and Barbuda in the Concacaf Nations League on Sunday.
Playing at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, the Tridents suffered a 31st minute setback through Myles Weston, but there were second half goals from Thierry Gale and a rasping winner from Tajio James in the 87th minute.
This earned the Tridents all three points and a first win for Orlando da Costa as head coach since his appointment last November.
While there was nothing at stake for the Bajans, their gutsy performance denied Antigua and Barbuda a place in the Concacaf Gold Cup preliminaries later this year.
Cuba won the group with a 1-0 home win over Guadeloupe yesterday. (NM)
