Bajans lose to US 3-0

The Barbados men’s team lost 3-0 to the United States in a game of slim margins in the Junior Pan American Hockey Championships at the Wildey Turf, yesterday.

In what is almost becoming a pattern, Barbados conceded early in the sixth minute with a conversion from Luca Civetta due to a defensive error. The Barbadians would then concede in the ninth minute, this time from a strike from Gurcharan Johal.

Barbados must be commended for how they reacted to the two early goals by establishing their defense and incorporating their midfield into the play.

They made life difficult for the US, who established good passing lanes and found spaces, but were ultimately stifled by the Barbados defence. The Bajan boys also took the risk and pushed their defensive line further up field with hopes of winning the ball in the Americans’ half and launching counter- attacking plays. (DG)
