A Trinidadian who snuck into Barbados and then went to police to report he had lost his passport, was handed over to immigration officials when he appeared in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court.

Donny Danny Moore, a 40-year-old mechanic of Temple Street, Caramie, San Fernando, Trinidad, had pleaded guilty to arriving in Barbados by sea, sometime between December 1, 2022, and April 6, this year, and disembarking without the consent of an immigration officer.

He also confessed he entered Barbados by sea, between December 1, 2022, and April 6, at a place other than a port of entry.

The court had heard the Trinidadian went to Central Police Station to report that he had lost his passport.

Police investigated and the offences were realised.

The Trinidadian subsequently told them he had come to Barbados on board a boat carrying drugs.

However, in his defence, the non-national denied that.

“I came to bring down the boat I was on from Tobago and I miss the boat I was [to] go back on,” he said.

In the end, Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes reprimanded and discharged the non-national but ordered that he be handed over to immigration officials. (HLE)
