Woman dead; two houses destroyed following St Philip fire

Two houses were destroyed by a fire at Hillview, Marley Vale, St Philip on Saturday and firemen “reported the discovery of charred remains of a human body located in the bathroom section” of one of them.

The body has been identified as Carol Alleyne, 67, who was reportedly a resident of the house.

According to police: “The fire was reportedly at a residence located at Hillview, Marley Vale, St Philip. Police immediately responded and, on arrival, met with personnel from the Barbados Fire Service. The fire, which destroyed two residences, situated next to each other, was extinguished about 10:45 p.m. Firemen reported the discovery of charred remains of a human body located in the bathroom section of the house.”

The second house, which was destroyed, is owned by Michael Hunte, of the same address. Both houses were uninsured.

Police investigations are ongoing. (PR/KG)
