Fire at old health complex

Members of the public are being advised to avoid passing near the fire at the old Family Planning building at the junction of Bay Street and Jemmott’s Lane, St Michael.

There is a significant plume of smoke coming from the fire and people downwind are asked to stay away from the area as the roof of the building contains asbestos.

Fire fighters are responding to blaze at the old Ministry of Health complex on Bay Street, St Michael.

Employees of the nearby Barbados Family Planning had to be evacuated from the building.
