His infatuation with a woman 50 years his junior, caused repeated thief Trevor DaCosta Russell to steal jewellery to give to her.

Russell, 71, a farm labourer of Wilson Village, Lodge Road, Christ Church, admitted entering Ralda Maynard’s home as a trespasser and stealing jewellery worth $2 325 on May 28 this year. That was the value of one watch, six chains, six rings and five pairs of earrings.

In prosecuting the matter before Magistrate Douglas Frederick, Station Sergeant Glenda Carter-Nicholls told the District “B” Court yesterday that Russell usually visited the Maynard residence to carry newspapers or feedbags.

However, he always spoke with the complainant and her husband from the outside of their home. (SD)
