CARIFTA Games’ gold medallist Ashlyn Simmons continued her exceptional form and was among the record-breakers on the second and final day of the 2023 Olympians’ Classic which concluded Sunday night at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex.

Simmons, 16, delivered a class performance as she clocked 2:18.66 minutes in the 800 metres for Elite Distance Programme (EDP).

The Alexandra School student left her fellow competitors in her wake while erasing T’Nia Lashley’s mark of 2:29.44 set last year.

Elite Distance had a good showing overall in the men’s 800 metres thanks to Rick Williams with a leading time of 1:54.26 while defeating John Clarke (1:57.77).  (ML)
