Four years on remand came to an end for manslayer Kelly Javanni Prentice yesterday.

Stressing that Prentice was not the one who inflicted the fatal stab wound on Guyanese Brinsley Warde and that one of his co-accused had already spent his time and re-entered society, Justice Randall Worrell sentenced him to an 18-month suspended sentence after imposing a starting point of eight years in jail.

Prentice, then 17 now 25, of Ellis Village, Halls Road, St Michael, was back in the No. 2 Supreme Court, where he had pleaded guilty, earlier in the Sessions of the Continuous Sitting, to unlawfully killing – manslaughter – Warde, 48, formerly of Chase Gap, Halls Road, St Michael, on October 9, 2015.

He was originally charged with murdering the labourer but had denied that count. (HLE)
