Amber rides to bronze

Cyclist Amber Joseph won Barbados’ third bronze medal and fourth overall at the Central American and Caribbean Games in El Salvador on Friday night.

Joseph was third in the women’s omnium, the four-event cycling race. She finished on 119 points, with a Herculean effort in the points race to put herself on the podium.

Victoria Velazco of Mexico won gold with 132 and Colombia’s Lina Rojas silver with 124.

Alexi Ramirez of Trinidad and Tobago, the other Caribbean representative in the event, was sixth with 77 points.

To date, Chelsea Tuach has won the lone gold in the women’s shortboard surfing competition, while boxer Jabali Breedy was third in the men’s 51kg and Roberta Foster in dressage. (SAT)
