There was one question on the mind of Magistrate Douglas Frederick yesterday.

Do those who try to smuggle a suitcase filled with drugs into the island not expect to be caught?

He threw it out yesterday as he dealt with a 25-year-old American who admitted he tried to bring almost 22 kilogrammes of cannabis into the island through Grantley Adams International Airport earlier this week.

Brian Marvin Grogan, a former FedEx courier, of Derriman Street, Brooklyn, New York, was in the District “B” Boarded Hall Magistrates’ Court, at the Eric Holder Municipal Complex in St Joseph, where he pleaded guilty to possession, trafficking, possession with intent to supply and importation of 21.95 kilogrammes of cannabis on July 3.  (HLE)
