Tsunami advisory for Barbados

A tsunami advisory has been issued for Barbados.

A tsunami advisory is issued when there is confirmation of a tsunami, but it poses no threat to Barbados. They are used to prevent unnecessary evacuations, says the Barbados Meteorological Services.

Distant earthquakes have occurred.

A series of large earthquakes have occurred near 61W 20N, approximately 160 miles NNE of Barbuda.

There are no impacts expected from the tsunami in our area. (PR)
