A High Court judge yesterday lambasted gunman Peter Ricardo Mayers, who concealed a loaded firearm among the clothes and bed sheets of his blind, bedridden mother in an attempt to escape police detection.

Justice Laurie-Ann Smith-Bovell sentence him to 11 years in prison and said his actions gave an insight into his deviant thinking.

Mayers, of My Lord’s Hill, St Michael, was back in the No. 4 Supreme Court where he had pleaded not guilty to having a firearm and ten rounds of ammunition in his possession on April 20, 2019.

He conducted his defence, while Senior State Counsel Romario Straker prosecuted. (HLE)
