Alex Tasker was released from police custody on Tuesday night.

Earlier that day, Commissioner of Police Richard Boyce confirmed Tasker was arrested after the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) denied his application for leave to appeal on the matter of his extradition to the USA.

The businessman’s attorneys later made an urgent request to the CCJ to hear further interventions. That was agreed to and as a result, all previous legal rulings were stayed pending the outcome of this latest urgent application.

Tasker, a former vice-president of the Insurance Corporation of Barbados, has been charged with money laundering and conspiracy to launder money. (PR/SAT)
