The return of 2022 Barbados Triple Crown winner Hurricane highlights the sixth day of the Barbados Turf Club second racing season tomorrow at the historic Garrison Savannah.

Entitled the Season of Emancipation Raceday, the programme, which rolls off at 2:30 p.m. will see eight races being contested and four sophomores making their debut.

The opening event is the 1 000 metres Bayleys Plantation Allotted Weights Race for West Indian-bred two-year-olds. The Edward Walcott Jr-trained Hurricane which is owned by Gay Smith returns to the track two weeks shy of a year’s absence as he has not raced since he won the Derby in August 2022.

Hurricane’s connections have opted for the 1 100 metres feature Season of Emancipation Handicap – a sprint for horses rated 110-90 and below. The others entered are Kariba Star, Brilliant News and Shane Doan all for trainer Andrew “Busha” Nunes while Bajan Azteca and Sir Jimmy complete the six runners. (LY)
