Wales, Ellerton end season on a high

Ensure Max Protein Weymouth Wales and Ellerton, the top two finishers in the 2023 Barbados Football Association’s Premier League, ended their season on a high with victories on Wednesday night at the Wildey AstroTurf.

In the first encounter, Wales defeated the already relegated Claytons Kola Tonic Notre Dame 4-2 to finish with 55 points from their allotted 22 matches, having won 18, drew one and lost two.

They were seven points ahead of their nearest challengers, Ellerton, who ended the season on 48 points from 22 matches after winning 15, drawing three and losing four.

While Notre Dame were demoted following Deacons’ impressive 4-0 victory over VanPur Malt Wotton on Tuesday, their top striker Zeco Edmee, who got a brace in the 45th and 60th minutes against Wales, still has a chance to fight for the coveted Golden Boot Award. (ML)
