Within the next six months, a St Thomas man who had a firearm, a modified flare gun and 32 bullets at his home, has to part with $32 500, to avoid jail time.

That is the tally of three fines imposed on Winton Pedro Lowe, 55, of Allen View, St Thomas, by a High Court judge last Friday.

The gunman pleaded guilty last month to having an unlicensed .38 firearm, a retrofitted flare gun and 32 bullets and returned to the No 3 Supreme Court on Friday afternoon for sentencing by Justice Carlisle Greaves.

The items were found in the living room of his home when police executed a search warrant. (SD)
