Guns have but one purpose and that is to inflict death, said Justice Christopher Birch.

As a result, the courts must take a “dim view” of the illegal possession of firearms, he said.

The judge was speaking as he dealt with Grantley Dolar Babb and Stacey Terrence Richards in the No. 5A Supreme Court.

Babb was given a starting sentence of 12 years, while Richards’ starting sentence was 11. Both, however, were given time served after a number of deductions.

Richards, a 46-year-old cook of Kingsland, Christ Church, and Babb, a 66-year-old fisherman of Lower Burney, St Michael, had pleaded guilty to a 14-count indictment. (HLE)
