The timetable at The Lester Vaughan School was suspended yesterday because there were not enough teachers.

The Weekend Nation understands that as a result of the shortage, students were accommodated in the auditorium where they were supervised by staff members who reported to work.

A source said the students received an extended lunch period and then they returned to the auditorium where they were dismissed at the usual closing time.

“But there were no classes and the normal timetable was suspended. No substitution list was printed so it was unsure the reasons that were given for non-attendance which can vary from most things and not all sickness. There were over 700 children at the school today and the roll is almost 900 or just over,” the source said. (AH)
