SAKHIR – Emerging Barbadian race car driver Zane Maloney set the fastest lap time on the final day of Formula 2 pre-season testing on Tuesday in Bahrain.

The 20-year-old Rodin Motorsport driver set a lap time of one minute, 41.501 seconds late in the afternoon session on the second day to top the timesheets for the three-day testing event, which started last Sunday and marked the second time the F2 field were all able to drive the new generation of cars.

The pace was turned up a bit on the final afternoon of the testing event, and Maloney, a member of the Sauber Academy, pushed the pace like he did throughout the three days to end with the best time of all.

Maloney had the second fastest time of one minute, 53.351 seconds after completing 15 laps on the first day in the Bahrain desert that was dramatically limited because of rain. (CMC)
