Tickets for the ICC Men’s T-20 Cricket World Cup went on sale at 10:30 a.m. today at Kensington Oval.

Barbadians came out in droves to get their hands on tickets, with two of the more popular purchases being the highly anticipated final and the group stage match between Australia and England on July 8.

The first person on the scene was Hallam Lashley of Deighton Road, St Michael who arrived at 6 a.m. to purchase seven tickets.

The World Cup is now officially 30 days away and Barbados will be hosting nine matches, including the highly anticipated final.

The day’s proceedings were not without its hiccups as the debit card system went down, causing ticket buyers to have to leave and return with cash.

Senior Manager for Cricket West Indies Philip Spooner assured Barbadians that any issues with the purchasing system would be soon resolved to make the process as smooth and convenient as possible.

Cultural ambassador, The Most Honourable Anthony “Gabby” Carter was among those providing live entertainment at the venue. (DG)
