Barbadian super heavyweight (92 + kg) boxer Seth Lawrence and his Dominican opponent Delroy Jno Charles put on the bout of the night at the 14th edition of the Horace Phillips Memorial Tournament held recently at the Graydon Sealy Secondary School.

Lawrence lost the encounter after three rounds with the more experienced Jno Charles, who has two losses in nine professional bouts.

The two traded blows well into the second and third rounds much to the delight of Lawrence’s contingent of supporters who were on their feet screaming his name. Jno Charles won by points, but Lawrence left with his head held high and with the respect of his local crowd.

Jno Charles and his compatriot Joshua Toussaint both enjoyed victories against their Barbadian opponents, but their coach Macneal Jones had positive comments about the local pugilists. (DG)
