Parents gearing up for the annual back-to-school shopping ritual have been facing a mix of challenges and strategic planning as they navigate high costs and seek the best deals for their children’s educational needs.

The cost to fully outfit a child for the school year, including uniforms, physical education attire, shoes, backpack, and accessories, can generally range from an estimate of $500 to $1 000. In some instances, it could be higher, depending on the school’s requirements and the quality of items chosen.

Prices can vary significantly depending on the items and stores. School shorts for boys range from $33 to $54, while long pants can cost between $76 and $79. School shirts are priced between $31 and $48. For girls, blouses range from $33 to $42, and tunics can cost between $90 and $100.

Other essential items like epaulettes cost from $7 to $18, depending on the style and gender. School ties are priced around $22, while socks range from $9 to $14. Belts are available for about $17, and school crests cost about $7. Backpacks, a crucial item for every student, are priced from as low as $25 to $200, depending on size and brand. (DS)
