A court appearance which should have gone in a routine fashion ended in a commotion yesterday as tempers flared.

Out of the incident, it is also likely that additional charges will be brought against a St James man.
Daniel Demetrius Allain, 33, a well cleaner, and Rashaun De’Angelo Jordel Sealy, 26, a landscaper, both of No. 2 Halls Village, St James, appeared yesterday in the Holetown Magistrates’ Court jointly charged with using unlawful violence towards another person, and their conduct taken together was such as would cause a person of reasonable firmness to fear for the other person’s safety.
Sealy was in the dock first, before a handcuffed and angry-looking Allain entered the courtroom. From the moment he landed, Allain was protesting his innocence, adamant Sealy should be charged but that he “ain’t do nothing” and should not be on an indictable charge.
Among his protests were that he could not “go to jail” because he has a job and has to go to work, and that he has a dog for which to care.
However, when he began to boisterously explain his version of the events which allegedly took place between him and Sealy last Saturday, Magistrate Wayne Clarke explained to Allain that he could not hear his position, since it was an indictable matter.
He informed Allain that he could not even plead, far less attempt to explain.
However, Allain continued ignoring police and court staff who also told him to be quiet. When the court set a remand date, he became even more boisterous and angry.
A policeman entered the dock to remove Allain who, while still handcuffed, kicked a standing fan on his way out and began using profanities.
As he exited through the centre aisle of the court with a policeman holding him, Allain kicked a man who was sitting at the end of one of the benches. That man turned out to be Sealy’s father, who quickly stood and began holding his mouth.
Sealy, who was being escorted out of the court but some distance behind Allain, became angry and started speaking loudly as well.
“You acting up now too?” an officer asked.
“I ain’t acting up, but my father is a man who don’t do nobody nutten!” Sealy declared.
“Dad, you all right?” he shouted to his father as he left the court.
On the outside Allain continued his behaviour, at one point spitting.
The accused, who were unrepresented, will return to court on November 18. (SD)
