The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) has issued a high-wind advisory for the island.

The advisory comes as a strengthening Atlantic high-pressure system moves across Barbados and the surrounding region. Winds between 37 and 56 km/h are expected, with even stronger gusts possible near showers.

These conditions may result in unsecured items such as tents, garbage cans and inflatable structures being blown over or rolled.

Residents are being urged to secure any loose objects and remain vigilant.

The high-wind advisory was issued at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, February 10 and will remain in effect until 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11.

The public is advised to monitor updates from the BMS, Department of Emergency Management (DEM), and Government Information Service (GIS) via their websites, social media channels, or local media outlets. (BMS)
