Drug seizure worth over $4.5 million at Welches Beach

A joint drug interdiction operation by the Barbados Police Service (TBPS) Narcotics Division and other law enforcement agencies on Sunday, February 9, led to a major seizure at Welches Beach, Christ Church.

Authorities confiscated 566.90 kilograms of suspected vegetable matter, believed to be illegal drugs, with an estimated street value of $4,535,200.

Six individuals are currently in custody, assisting police with ongoing investigations.

One vessel and a vehicle were also seized during the operation and remain in police possession.

The TBPS has confirmed that investigations into the matter are continuing. (PR)
