ADDIS ABABA – Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley arrived in Ethiopia on Thursday at the start of a state visit that also coincides with the 38th African Union (AU) Summit.
She was met on arrival at Bole International Airport by her host, Ethiopia Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
“I am pleased to welcome Prime Minister Mia Mottley of the Republic of Barbados to Ethiopia,” Abiy said in a brief statement.
In a statement posted on X, Prime Minister Mottley said she was “looking forward to finding pathways to work more closely together”.
Mottley is accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Kerrie Symmonds along with Barbados’ Ambassadors to Kenya and Ghana, Alexander McDonald and Juliette Bynoe-Sutherland, respectively.
The AU Summit, which ends tomorrow, is
being held under the theme Justice For Africans And People Of African Descent Through Reparations. It is being attended by heads of state and government from all 55 AU member countries as well as representatives from international organisations, non-governmental organisations and the private sector.
It will focus on advancing reparatory justice and fostering racial healing across the continent. ( CMC)
