Barbados is set to welcome more than 1,000 delegates from around the world next week for high-level discussions on sustainable energy.

The sixth Sustainable Energy for All (SEforAll) Global Forum will be held from March 12 to 13 at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Two Mile Hill, St Michael. The event is being co-hosted by the Government of Barbados and SEforAll.

Minister of Energy and Business, Senator Lisa Cummins, highlighted the significance of the conference and noted the country’s enthusiasm to facilitate global energy dialogue.

“We will have delegates from 77 countries, including international agencies, the United Nations, our development partners, members of the global private sector and the owners of capital, as well as members of civil society, here in Barbados,” she said.

Senator Cummins added that the event will be co-hosted under the leadership of Ms. Damilola Ogunbiyi, the Special Envoy for the United Nations Secretary-General on Energy, who will be attending along with her team from Vienna, Austria.

“We are looking forward to sharing all of the outputs of this important conference with Barbadians, and we’re encouraging Barbadians to get on board,” she said, noting that more information will be shared with the public in the coming days.

This year’s Forum will be held under the theme Sustainable Energy for Equity, Security and Prosperity, and will focus on mobilising actions and investments to help countries meet their energy access, climate, and development goals.

The last SEforAll Global Forum was held in Rwanda in 2022. (BGIS)
