The Salvation Army has surpassed its financial target for 2024-2025.

A press statement released on Friday said the 2024 Christmas Kettle Appeal netted $856 910.48, with the original target set at $850 000. “Your donations have allowed us to surpass our goal of $850 000 to reach the amount of $856 910.48. For the Christmas season, we were able to distribute 4 000 food hampers and hold our annual Christmas luncheon for 400 families. These funds will enable us to provide 300 daily meals five days a week, including our Mealsand- Wheels programme and assist families in crisis with clothing and furniture from our thrift store. These funds also assist us in providing temporary facilities at our Men’s Hostel. Indeed, with your donation, we are able to be good neighbours to those in need,” the organisation said.

Guidance

The Christmas Fundraising Drive is The Salvation Army’s most critical fundraiser, accounting for over three-quarters of their annual totals.

High praise was given to donors, the board and volunteers.

“We also wish to express our thanks to the volunteers and volunteer organisations that have rolled up their sleeves and assisted with the food hampers.

Special mention to our advisory board chairman, Paul Bernstein and Advisory board members that have provided valuable guidance and [have] demonstrated a commitment to serving others. Our sincere appreciation and commitment to all regular donors, whether individual or corporate, your donation is much appreciated. For the volunteers, thank you for taking your time and contributing to making a difference in the lives of others.”

Last year, the appeal also surpassed the mark, raising $849 000 with the original sum being $750 000.
