PM Mottley travels to Jamaica for talks with U.S. Secretary of State

Prime Minister and current Chair of CARICOM, the Hon. Mia Amor Mottley, SC, MP, is set to travel to Jamaica today, March 26, 2025, where she will engage in bilateral discussions with United States Secretary of State, Marco Rubio.

The high-level talks are expected to center on U.S. foreign policy and its impact on Barbados and the wider Caribbean region.

The meeting comes at a time when regional leaders are seeking to strengthen diplomatic ties and address pressing geopolitical and economic concerns.

Accompanying Prime Minister Mottley on the trip are Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, the Hon. Kerrie Symmonds; Barbados’ Ambassador to the United States, H.E. Victor Fernandes; Director-General in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, H.E. Donna Forde; and Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office, the Most Honourable Alies Jordan, FB.

In Mottley’s absence, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Works, the Hon. Santia Bradshaw, will assume the responsibilities of Prime Minister until her return. (PR)
