UPDATE: Man hurt in St John shooting

Police say they were fired upon first in an incident that left one man injured last night at Kendal, St John.

A statement from the Barbados Police Service said a team was on patrol in the area.

“There they encountered a group of persons who opened fire. The police, fearing for their lives, returned fire. A male subsequently complained of injury, he was treated at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and discharged. A firearm was recovered at the scene. A person is currently in police custody assisting with the investigation,” the statement said.

One man was injured in a shooting incident which occurred at Kendal, St John last night.

There are reports that a gun was recovered from the scene.
