Brian Reece appointed CEO of Fair Trading Commission

The Fair Trading Commission (FTC) has announced the appointment of Mr. Brian Reece as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Reece, who joined the Commission in August 2023 as Director of Utility Regulation, brings with him two decades of industrial experience and a strong background in law, environmental engineering, and regulatory oversight.

In his previous role, he oversaw efforts to ensure the efficient and safe provision of regulated utility services in Barbados. His portfolio included leading a professional team focused on the island’s transition to renewable energy.

An Attorney-at-Law, Reece holds an MSc in Environmental Engineering from the University of Manchester, an LLB (Hons) from the University of the West Indies, and a Legal Education Certificate from the Norman Manley Law School. He is also a member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment.

In addition to his professional and academic accomplishments, Reece has served as Chairman of several national regulatory advisory committees. (PR)
