The Democratic Labour Party (DLP) has strongly rejected a recent statement by the Minister of Education Transformation, who suggested that the teachers’ union’s call for term leave is politically motivated.

In an official release issued today, the DLP described the Minister’s comments as “baseless” and “deeply irresponsible,” accusing him of attempting to deflect from the pressing challenges within the education system.

The party also distanced itself from the issue, stating unequivocally that neither the DLP nor its member Felicia Dujon has any involvement in the matter. It reiterated its long-standing support for teacher wellbeing, term leave, and the right of unions to advocate freely for their members.

“The Minister’s remarks betray a troubling attitude toward the teaching profession,” the DLP said, while calling for a public apology and retraction.
