An accident between a ZR and a car triggered a mass casualty response yesterday as more than ten people, many of them schoolchildren, were injured.

The collision occurred opposite Divi Southwinds, Christ Church, at the junction of St Lawrence Main Road and Harmony Hall.

Police reported that it occurred around 4:40 p.m., with 12 people sustaining injuries – 11 from the ZR and the driver of the car, who was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Two other ambulances responded, but some people opted to seek private medical attention.

There were no serious injuries reported.

The route 3D ZR also hit a bus pole while the car was twisted around. Both vehicles were heavily damaged. Police were on scene interviewing passengers and insurance representatives were also

on hand. An eyewitness said she heard the noise of the crash and saw the smoke and dust afterwards.

“The car was turning in when they hit. My son was outside playing, so I was afraid for him. The boy he was playing with run in here crying and screaming – he was traumatised. I’m just glad they weren’t hurt,” she said.
