Dangerous wall taken down

The wall near Margaret Terrace, Pine Gardens, St Michael, is no more.

On Thursday, a crew from the Ministry of Transport and Works (MTW) quickly took it apart and carried pieces away. The work started around noon after a short delay waiting for a truck to take away the debris.

The wall, which was highlighted in Thursday’s

Daily Nation, had started to crumble, posing a danger to passers-by. An MTW representative explained they would use a backhoe to take the wall down and a “Bobcat” to load the pieces onto a truck, adding it should not take more than an hour-and-a-half.

A man who was a friend of the landowner said she was in her 80s and was thankful for the help. He said they would arrange for a new wall to be built.

During the work, traffic was diverted through Mount Joy Avenue to Pine Garden. (CA)
