THE ST LUCIA JAZZ & ARTS FESTIVAL roared to life on Friday with Caribbean Fusion Night on Pigeon Island.

It opened in spectacular fashion with The Story by St Lucia’s own awardwinning Soca artist,

Ricky T who delivered a high-energy performance laced with cultural pride.

Ricky T’s set included collaborations with local talent such as the past national soca competition kings, and an electrifying surprise appearance by Mr Killa of St Vincent that sent the crowd into a frenzy.

The night continued its highoctane momentum with a dazzling performance by soca queen Patrice Roberts, who stepped onto the stage in a vibrant neon feathery costume that hinted at the spirit of St Lucian Carnival just around the corner.

Her energy and commanding presence created a visual and musical spectacle, setting a powerful tone for the festival’s blend of art, culture, and Caribbean rhythm.

In a moving highlight, Young Bredda took the spotlight after spending time earlier that day with youth at the Boys Training Centre, where he offered guidance drawn from his own transformative journey. His performance resonated deeply, delivering not just entertainment but inspiration proving that music can uplift, heal, and empower.

Caribbean Fusion reached its crescendo with the legendary

Beenie Man and Bounty Killer. Their back-to-back sets closed out the evening with the kind of explosive energy only dancehall royalty can bring, capping off a night that celebrated unity, resilience, and the undeniable power of Caribbean music. (PR)
