The Barbados Football Association (BFA) has announced a new partnership aimed at enhancing female football on the island through collaboration with athletic retailer Tropic Ace and local games café Sole Play.

The agreement was formalised today at the BFA Technical Centre in Wildey, where both partners confirmed their donation of prizes and discounted football merchandise for the upcoming 2025 BFA Women’s Tournament. The tournament will now be known as the 2025 BFA Tropic Ace Women’s Tournament.

In addition to supporting the tournament, the partnership includes broader financial backing for the BFA Female Football Program.

BFA President Randy Harris expressed gratitude to the sponsors, noting the importance of such collaborations in advancing the women’s game in Barbados.

“As the BFA continues to develop female football in Barbados, partnerships such as these are a very significant asset,” Harris said. “Having partners who recognize the power of women’s football and who align with the Association’s vision, and more broadly with FIFA’s mission to accelerate the growth of the women’s game globally, will strengthen the landscape for female football on the island and help us to expand our efforts to engage more girls and women into the sport.”

Owner and Managing Director of Tropic Ace and Sole Play, Brent Emanuel, described the partnership as both a personal and professional commitment.

“I am proud to partner with the 2025 BFA Women’s Tournament and the broader BFA Female Football Program,” he said. “Our support of the Association goes beyond a simple business decision or corporate sponsorship opportunity. As a proud ‘girl-dad’, I want my daughter to know that I stand behind her and other girls like her as she works towards her own dreams, so it is a privilege to contribute.”

The 2025 BFA Tropic Ace Women’s Tournament is expected to kick off in the coming weeks and will feature teams including Paradise FC, RF Prime, Mavericks, and Technique FC.

Tropic Ace carries leading brands such as Nike, Adidas, Converse, Lacoste, and Puma, while Sole Play, located inside The Athlete’s Foot store at Sheraton Mall, offers a selection of snacks and drinks, including Yerba Mate, endorsed by international football star Lionel Messi. (BFA)
