West Indies captain Shai Hope is eagerly looking forward to the upcoming three-match T20 International Series against England, starting on Friday.
The two teams will face-off in the opening contest at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street, Durham in the north of the country.
It is expected to be non-stop action from start to finish when the series opener bowls off at 6:30pm (1:30pm Barbados Time). This will be Hope’s first match at the helm after being officially elevated to the captaincy.
He spoke to the media on Thursday afternoon and said the mood in the camp was quite upbeat despite the 3-0 defeat in the One-Day Internationals which ended on Tuesday.
“Anytime West Indies play against England it’s a big game … no matter the format … Tests, ODIs, or in the T20Is, like we will have tomorrow,” he said before the afternoon training session.
“We are confident as we start this series. We have put the ODIs behind us and we are ready to go for the T20Is. We have the return of several players to the squad and there is lots of energy in the dressing room.”
