The ceremony to officially kick off Crop Over 2025 is making a return to Queen’s Park in The City tomorrow, with a wide variety of activities.

Karen Pestaina, festival and events planner at the National Cultural Foundation (NCF), and producer of the Opening Gala And Ceremonial Delivery Of The Last Canes, said the venue was most suitable for a family-oriented event.

The opening ceremony was last held in Queen’s Park in 2017 but she noted that the renovated Queen’s Park Steel Shed, Daphne Joseph-Hackett Theatre and Marcus Garvey Amphitheatre offered
more options.

“We are coming back home because we have been here many times before and also because, as you can see how big this event is to set up, the infrastructure for rehearsals and so on, this area lends itself because in here we already have the NCF building. So we can now utilise the Steel Shed, the theatre, the Marcus Garvey Amphitheatre and the Esplanade,” she told the media yesterday during a site visit.
