Motorists should expect traffic delays on Friday as the Chapman Challenge is launched at the Garfield Sobers Sporting Complex.
The launch will take place under the auspices of His Excellency the Most Honourable Jeffery Bostic, FB, MVO.
Schoolchildren from Frederick Smith Secondary School, Deighton Griffith Secondary School and Four Square, St Philip, will be transported to the event in escorted buses.
The Barbados Police Service said traffic delays are expected from 9 a.m. until the launch is completed.
Affected areas include the ABC Highway between the JTC Ramsay and Errol Barrow roundabouts, Upton Road, Sargeants Village, Fordes Road and Wildey Main Road.
Police officers will be deployed to assist with the bus escorts and traffic management.
Parking at the Garfield Sobers Sporting Complex will be restricted to specially invited guests and VIPs.
The Police Service reminded motorists that failing to comply with the directions of a uniformed police officer is an offence, punishable by a fine of up to $500 or up to three months’ imprisonment.
The restrictions do not apply to police, defence force, fire service or other emergency vehicles.
Police thanked the public for its cooperation and apologised for any inconvenience caused by the traffic changes. (PR)
