The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has written to Cricket West Indies (CWI) requesting a change in the match schedule for the upcoming senior men’s cricket tour.

The Pakistanis are scheduled to play three T20 Internationals in the United States and three One-Day Internationals in Trinidad. The request is to have the ODIs switched to three T20Is as the visitors prefer to concentrate on the shortest format.

The three T20Is are scheduled for the Central Broward Stadium in Lauderhill in south Florida on Thursday, July 31; Saturday, August 2 and Sunday, August 3. This is a series under lights, starting at 8 p.m. The three ODIs are slated for the Brian Lara Cricket Academy on Friday August 8, at 2 p.m.; followed by two matches on Sunday, August 10 and Tuesday, August 12 at 9:30 a.m.

The PCB and CWI are in dialogue over the possible change of the itinerary for the ODIs in Trinidad, which would leave the West Indies without any home ODIs this year. A source said no firm decision has been reached. Recent media reports in Pakistan suggested that the visitors were preparing for any eventuality.

Aqib Javed, the PCB’s Director of High Performance said a selected group of players would start a camp on Tuesday and were preparing for both ODI and T20I formats, ready to proceed based on whichever decision was finalised regarding the tour.

“Our preparations are complete. The camp, starting from July 8 in Karachi, includes both ODI and T20I players. We are ready for both scenarios, whether the focus is on ODIs or T20Is,” he said. (PS)
