Rihanna’s final farewell to late dad

National hero Robyn Rihanna Fenty bade farewell to her father, the late Ronald Winston Fenty yesterday, first at a private service at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex, Wildey, St Michael, and then at his burial at Coral Ridge Memorial Gardens in Christ Church.

The international singer and businesswoman arrived for the service escorted by a police motorcade around 2:15 p.m. wearing a cream-coloured flowing dress and gracefully exiting her chauffeur driven
seven-seater Toyota.

She presented a united front alongside her long-time boyfriend Rakim Mayers, better known as A$AP Rocky, who carried their older son RZA, three, while Rihanna had 22-month-old Riot. 

Upon her arrival at the Government-owned indoor sporting facility that can accommodate up to 5 000 people, Rihanna exchanged hugs and kisses with her close friend Sonita Alexander as well as family members including her mother Monica Fenty and brother Rajad Fenty.

The service lasted about 90 minutes and the family left the Gymnasium around 4:15 p.m. for
the burial site.

Rihanna and family arrived at Coral Ridge where she took her seat next to the casket bearing the body of her father, who died on May 31 at age 71 in Los Angeles. According to a death certificate, he died from cancer, pneumonia and other serious illnesses after he checked into a Los Angeles hospital in April.

A solemn-looking Rihanna, in her final act of goodbye to her dad and, after laying a rose on the casket, later placed a wreath on his resting place.

Her brothers Rorrey and Rijad followed suit and laid floral bouquets on the grave.

At the end of the service, family and friends gathered for photos and the customary reunion.

In the obit, Ronald was remembered for his deep love for his children, his passion for cooking, and his great encyclopedic knowledge of world affairs. 

Funeral arrangements were done by Lyndhurst Funeral Home.
