Barbadian Johann Layne is set to make his One-Day International debut for West Indies after being a late call-up to the squad.

The beanpole seam bowler, who is also a capable lower-order batsman and dynamic fielder, left for Trinidad and Tobago last night as a replacement for compatriot Matthew Forde in the 15-member squad.

This is Layne’s second international call-up. He was among the West Indies squad for the recent Test series against Australia but did not play in any of the three matches which the home team lost 3-0. Forde, a livewire all-rounder, suffered a dislocated left shoulder while attempting a catch during West Indies training on Wednesday evening and has been ruled out.

The full extent of the injury was not revealed.
