Credit union staff upset

Staff at the Barbados Public Workers’ Cooperative Credit Union Ltd (BPWCCUL) are said to be hopping mad over a recent regrading exercise and back pay which resulted in senior staff taking home thousands of dollars more while those at the bottom got “very little”.

Sources told the Weekend Nation there was a high number of staff absent on Tuesday, Wednesday and yesterday, while some employees who turned up were on a go-slow. It resulted in some branches only having one teller on duty to serve the members.

In addition, Government workers whose salaries are paid through the credit union also complained that they were unable to receive those monies since last week Thursday.

“I went [last] Thursday and they said it was not available. I went back on Tuesday and Wednesday this week to Belmont Road and only one teller was there. I was told that the Accounts Department was closed and to just keep checking,” a frustrated man said.
