Layne is accused of possession of a firearm, seven rounds of ammunition, and over a kilogram of cannabis valued at $4,152. He also faces charges of trafficking and intent to supply cannabis.
He appeared before Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes yesterday in the District ‘A’ Criminal Court No. 1 and was not required to plead. The matter has been transferred to the Oistins Magistrates’ Court for September 8, 2025.

Akeem Justin Layne has been charged in connection with firearm possession and drug trafficking following an incident earlier this month.
Layne, 31, of Flat Rock, St George, was arrested by the Serious Organised Crime Unit and is facing charges of possession of a firearm, possession of seven rounds of ammunition, possession of cannabis, trafficking cannabis, and intent to supply cannabis.
Police said the suspected cannabis weighed 1.038 kilograms, with an estimated street value of $4,152.
Layne is scheduled to appear in the District “B” Magistrate’s Court on Monday, August 11.
