The International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) has issued a Red Notice for Brazilian national, Fernando Teles Pereira, who is wanted in Guyana on a murder charge.

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) confirmed that it had sought INTERPOL’s support in connection with the murder of 21-year-old Venezuelan national, Miguelys Centeno Gerdez, whose body was discovered on March 4, 2025. An autopsy later revealed she died from severe trauma to the head.

The GPF said that its investigations have so far shown that on February 5, 2025, Pereira had picked up Gerdez at the Diamond Junction, East Bank Demerara. He fled the country and returned to Brazil.

The GPF said that with the INTERPOL Red Notice, it is calling on law enforcement across the 196 member countries to locate and provisionally arrest Pereira, pending extradition or other legal proceedings. (CMC)
