Prison officer Akeem St Hill, 28, of Cottage Retreat Road, St George, was placed on $20,000 bail after pleading not guilty to three charges involving the alleged smuggling of illegal drugs into Dodds Prison.

He was not required to plead to a fourth charge, which was transferred to the District “A” Court.
He pleaded not guilty to a charge that on August 23, without lawful authority, he gave prisoner Jahlanny Yards drugs or any other article.
The prison officer also denied that between July 1 and August 13, while performing a public function, he accepted an advantage as a reward for performing an act in his capacity as a person exercising a public function.
Additionally, he pleaded not guilty to knowingly handling a controlled drug on August 13, which was intended, whether by him or another person, for supply in contravention of Section 1 of the Drug Abuse (Prevention and Control) Act.
The fourth charge, transferred to District “A” Court, alleged that between July 1 and August 13, St Hill engaged in money laundering when he received money or a benefit that was the proceeds of crime.
He appeared before Magistrate Angela White at the Oistins Magistrates’ Court, was represented by King’s Counsel Michael Lashley. (MB)
