Man charged in string of burglaries at schools and several other places

44-year-old Bunny Livingstone Grant of Parish Land, Christ Church has been arrested and formally charged in connection with a series of burglaries targeting schools and several other places across the island.

Police allege that between December 2025 and January 2026, multiple educational institutions were broken into.

In District ‘A’, Grant was charged with burglaries at St. Giles Nursery School, where items valued at $2,100 were stolen; St. Giles Primary School, with items valued at $1,200; Charles F. Broome Memorial Primary School; The Lawrence T. Gay School, where $961 in items was reportedly taken; Tyrol Cot; and The People’s Cathedral Primary School, where property valued at $6,124 was stolen.

He was also charged with sacrilege in relation to the Carrington Wesleyan Holiness Church on January 22, 2026.

In District ‘B’, Grant was charged with sacrilege at Pilgrim Road Church of the Nazarene, where items valued at $8,352.51 were reported stolen, and burglary at Nature Care, involving property valued at $9,196.97.

Additional charges were laid in Hastings Worthing for the burglary of Castaways Restaurant, where items valued at $25,495.34 were reportedly stolen, and in Central for burglary at Victoria Florist, criminal damage to property belonging to Lloyd Ainfle Burrows, possession of apparatus, possession of cocaine, intent to supply and trafficking.

Grant appeared before Magistrate Manila Renee in the District ‘A’ Criminal Court No. 2 on Tuesday, February 3, where he plead to the indictable offences of sacrilege at Carrington Wesleyan Holiness Church and burglary at Castaways Restaurant.

He was remanded to the Barbados Prison Service at Dodds and is scheduled to reappear on March 3, 2026.

He later appeared before Magistrate Douglas Frederick in the District ‘B’ Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, February 5, where he pleaded guilty to the burglary offence and was sentenced to 18 months at Dodds.

He was not required to plead to the indictable offence of sacrilege at Pilgrim Road Church of the Nazarene and is also expected to return to court on March 3, 2026.
